| Implementing Conscious Discipline® |

So, you want to implement Conscious Discipline® in your home?
Step 1: Read There’s
Got to be A Better Way: Discipline that Works. This will
help you move from negative to positive discipline. More importantly,
it will help controlling parents move from control to healthy
structure. It also will help parents who are permissive move
from permissiveness to healthy nurture. Since a controlling
person generally marries a permissive (passive) person, this
book will also bring spouses closer to being 'on the same
page.'
Step 2: Now that you have gotten a taste of the Conscious Discipline® style of parenting, it is the perfect time to explore CD activities in your area. Loving Guidance, Certified Conscious Discipline Instructors and others who are versed in the program may be holding trainings in your area. You can check on Conscious Discipline® events in your area by clicking on our interactive map. Attending a Conscious Discipline® workshop, parenting class, or other group is a uniquely inspiring and informational experience that has no parallel.
Step 3: Once you become more positive, it is now time to become more conscious. This journey begins with Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline. If you think you are already pretty positive, you may want to start your process with this book. There is a seven-week course at the end of the book that is guaranteed to make changes in your life if you are willing to commit to it. If you are not a reader, listen to the lecture series audiotapes, Ten Principles of Positive Discipline and Setting Limits Without Guilt. You may want to purchase the Positive Power Pak for Parents to save money.
Step 4: Start with structure and routine to build more predictability in your home. You can facilitate this process by using Routine and Responsibility Cards. These visual reminders help children and train parents to cement their daily responsibilities and routines. The suggestions that come with the cards are invaluable in helping children to be successful with chores and their bedtime and morning routines.
Step 5: Start your I Love You Rituals program. Purchase
the I
Love you Rituals Value Pak. Read the first four chapters
of the book and get started! Set aside a time with your child,
let them open the book, and learn the activities together.
Do them without music first, and then add the music. These
connective activities will sooth your soul and release powerful
biochemicals within your child that will facilitate their
brain development. Find your favorite rituals or make up new
ones and make them part of your bedtime routine to guarantee
bedtime success. Purchase the video, Touch
a Heart, Teach a Mind, and watch and listen to the power
of connection. In addition to adding to your personal experience,
the video is an easy way to share your values with grandparents,
spouses, etc.
Step 6: Start listening to the lecture series audiotapes by Dr. Bailey. Here is the suggested order for listening: Setting Limits Without Guilt, Ten Principles for Positive Discipline, Preventing Power Struggles, Conflict Resolution, Transforming Aggression and Brain Smart Discipline. The information on the lecture CDs and cassettes is different from the information in the books.
Step 7: Develop your child’s music and movement abilities. Explore the audiotape section of our products to find wonderful children’s musicians. All of the songs we offer have a positive message and expose your child to range of musical styles. Our children are exposed to the adult world via television, internet and radio. We must also carve out a world that honors their intellect and growth needs.
Step 8: Obtain the Shubert series of children’s books. The books are designed for adults and children. Mrs. Bookbinder models ways adults can positively handle challenging situation. Shubert and his classmates model positive behavior learning and choices for common situations that children encounter at school. The Shubert series also makes a great present for your child’s teacher. They are a gentle way to introduce teachers into another way of dealing with classroom conflicts.
Step 1: Attend a 2-Day Conscious Discipline® Workshop in your area. The practical tips, hands-on activities and connectivity of these seminars are vital components on your journey into Conscious Discipline®. These workshops will help you move toward positive discipline. It will lay the groundwork for the Conscious Discipline® book by helping controlling teachers begin the move from control toward healthy structure, and helping permissive teachers move from permissiveness toward healthy nurture.
Step 2: Read Conscious Discipline®: Seven Basic Steps to Brain Smart Classroom Management. Follow the suggested self-taught program as set out by the book, including completing all activities and beginning to implement the Conscious Discipline® principles.
Step 3: While reading the Conscious Discipline® workbook, or after completing it, begin to explore CD activities in your area. Loving Guidance, Certified Conscious Discipline® Instructors and others who are versed in the program may be holding trainings in your area. You can check on Conscious Discipline® events in your area by clicking on our interactive map. Attending a Conscious Discipline® workshop, parenting class, or other group is a uniquely inspiring and informational experience that has no parallel.
